Opthalmic care in Kenya has come a long way. Gone are the days when Kenyans struggled to get eye care. In fact, a number of people from neighboring countries are coming to Kenya for eye treatments since it has one of the best eye care and laser treatments in Africa. Lions Sight First Eye Hospital
Located in uptown Loresho, Westlands is Lions Hospital. The hospital was started in July 1997 to help the disadvantaged in the society access better eye care. They are the first to establish an eye bank in East and Central Africa and have done over 2 million successful surgeries. It is a charity hospital in Mombasa providing eye care since 1969. Their mission is spreading God’s love through healing the spiritual and physical blind in the community.
