Norah Bosibori is a vocal young politician, cyber security professional and an ODM member and Azimio Coalition supporter. The outspoken young leader recently made headlines after revealing some issues she says cost Raila the Presidency in the August 2022 polls.

Speaking in an interview with Tuko, Bosibori said that the Azimio La Umoja coalition party lacked proper plans to clinch the presidency. She further noted that the coalition’s main undoing was underrating their main opponents, the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

In addition to the Azimio secretariat dismissing new ideas and strategies, Bosibori also decried the infamous “zoning” tactic adopted by the coalition.

As an aspiring politician herself, Bosibori also revealed how she lost Ksh30 million during the campaigns. In her efforts to mobilize voters in ODM strongholds, she used a lot of resources that she now says, “pesa yangu ilikunywa maji”.

Over-confidence and arrogance

According to Bosibori, Azimio’s leadership shrugged off her efforts to establish a data centre for the party, adding that there was a sense of over-confidence and misplaced priorities.

The former Dagoretti North MP aspirant also said that Azimio’s leadership lacked a plan and was waiting on the ‘deep state’ to deliver the presidency. She also hinted that the coalition of parties lacked a clear roadmap to clinch the presidency from the onset, adding that they were arrogant and had dismissed ideas from the young supporters and strategists.

Poor planning, no strategy

“We were just waiting for the system to deliver for us. Their strategy failed them big time if they had a strategy at all. I could not see any concrete plan for the presidential election. There were too many centres of power and sabotage within. There was no clear road map on what needed to be done to win a presidential election. Why would we dirty our hands when everything has been sorted by the state,” she said.

She further claimed that the coalition’s offices had been turned into clubhouses where members would meet for tea. “I cannot get out of my house to go sit and have tea. Basically, all offices that ODM and Azimio were running were centres for people to take tea and bread and laugh before going home. Nothing concrete was being done within that framework. I did not see any fruitful engagement. We used to go to the orange house, no strategic engagements and no plans,” she added.

Winnie Odinga

Among the top leaders of the coalition was Hon. Raila Odinga’s daughter, Winnie Odinga, who was tasked with some official duties. Winnie, has been accused by a number of ODM diehards of poor leadership skills and arrogance. According to Bosibori, Winnie’s attitude to ensure her father’s needs are met rubbed people the wrong way, costing the campaign.

“She had a cognitive bias of overestimating her capabilities. You can not be a master of everything. You have to delegate no matter how good you are. So then her condescending attitude had to rub some people the wrong way. Being the wiseacre that she is then, she had to undermine a lot of people to be able to get her things done. That cost the campaign because if you can not listen, then people let you do whatever you,” Norah Bosibori said.
