Eric was arrested on Friday, June 21 after holding a one-man protest against the Finance Bill at Parliament.

Tickets for the show will go for KSh 1000.

President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto have taken a break to visit their farm as heavy rains continue across the country.

“President William Samoei Ruto and First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto passed by the farms to plant a few trees and inspect the farm, just like any other farmers whose crops need close attention due to the increased rains,” Posted Itumbi.

Ruto and Rachel also have a wheat farm in Narok and were spotted checking the progress.

The President and the First Lady had spent the weekend at the farms before their return to the State House.

Ruto is well known for his farming initiatives and during campaigns, he would narrate raising chickens as a young man and selling them on the roadside.

Apart from the Kilgoris farm, Ruto has several other farms including the impressive Kisima farm.

Kisima farm is a 1000-acre property located in Mata ward, Taita Taveta county and linked to William Ruto.

The president purchased the land from former Taveta Member of Parliament Basil Criticos. According to several local publications, Ruto added the farm to his vast wealth acquisitions in 2017.

WoK previously covered Ruto spending time on his farm in Uasin Gishu to harrow his farm and plant maize.

One thing that came out about him is his hands-on skills in operating the powerful Case Maxxum iH 125 tractor.

The president seems to have upgraded as in 2017 he was captured operating a New Holland TT 75 tractor; a machine that has received praise and ridicule in equal measures.

By Staff Writer

He is loved and loathed in almost equal measure. How he voices his opinions and gets social media users talking or coins slogans that stick like glue is the work of a master in his trade. The former State House senior digital director Dennis Itumbi is that one man you want in your corner if you are seriously gunning for the presidency. This is evident in how he handled the Jubilee campaigns in 2013 and 2017. The ‘pig farmer’ has also done a commendable job in selling DP William Ruto and his UDA party. So what lessons can we learn from Itumbi?

It doesn’t work being callous on social media: It goes without saying that Dennis Itumbi is one of the foremost bloggers in the country. He has dined with the President and will continue enjoying the trappings of power if the DP ascends to power. Unlike his peers, Itumbi avoids insults or casting aspersions he cannot defend. He won’t use unprintable words if one differs with his opinions. That is not to say he has not made wild allegations in the past.

Well informed: The blogger has taught us that to be in his position you have to be well informed. When he appears on TV political shows, Itumbi is never intimidated and takes questions from journalists with dexterity. This cannot be said of most bigwig bloggers who are loud on social media but hollow when it matters.

Stick to one hustle at a time: Bloggers are known to do dirty work of the highest bidder and this doesn’t last beyond a couple of days. The class of Itumbi is different. He sticks to one hustle at a time and does it with a lot of gusto. His influence has seen the ‘deep state’ try to poach him-at least according to what he told political commentator Wahome King’ori:

“Let me make it easy for you. It has been tried over the last one year including one week ago and the answer is the same no.

“I am a hustler story. It is natural here. It is not even about me.

“It is about millions of hustlers.

“So, no price can get me from the hustler movement….”

To be relevant, don’t mix yourself with too many things at one go. Dennis Itumbi-for example-is known as the number one hustler blogger.

Good Times: Dennis Itumbi And President Uhuru Kenyatta Before They Fell Out Image/Hivisasa

Ambition: Nothing should hold you back. Itumbi first came to Nairobi from Embu when he was 19 years old to join the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC). The drive to succeed has seen him share the same table with who is who in Kenya.

Be true to your friends: when former Citizen TV anchor Jacque Maribe was arrested and put on trial for the murder of Ms Monica Kimani, it was Dennis who stood by her. According to the disgraced news anchor, most of her friends dissociated with her but Dennis remained steadfast.

Blogging in Kenya has become popular over the last decade and is eating the space hitherto enjoyed by the mainstream media. The number of Kenyans taking up blogging as a career is on the increase. Most bloggers cover topics that range from politics, education, fashion, beauty to entertainment.

This article focuses on ten influential bloggers in Kenya. Of course, there are many other bloggers in this country doing an amazing job and influencing others but in this case, the focus is on only 10.

Cyprian Nyakundi

Cyprian Nyakundi is a popular blogger whose focus is primarily on exposing corruption. He had a massive following on twitter before he was suspended over a post he claimed had been shared multiple times. He said of the decision by Twitter to permanently ban him from the platform:

“Yes, my Twitter account has been suspended over a post that had been used multiple times. I have been a victim of targeted reporting and false claims of abuse due to my views, on a platform that purportedly promotes freedom of expression.”

He is still active on his blog cnyakundi.com, on Facebook and his telegram channel. In a recent post, Nyakundi revealed that he had more “than 15 criminal cases pertaining to my online activities pending in court´´ since 2015.

He has been accused in the past of extortion and arrested over false Covid-19 claims but the blogger continues to do his thing.

Dennis Itumbi

The digital strategist fall from a powerful position has not deflated him. Itumbi has used his social media platforms to campaign for Deputy President William Ruto after falling out with President Uhuru Kenyatta. His sacking as the Secretary Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication, Republic of Kenya provided him with the ammunation to criticise the President at will.

Sharon Mundia

This is Ess is a blog that focuses on lifestyle and fashion. Sharon also keeps her followers updated on finance and a host of other topics. The blogger runs a successful YouTube channel and a show on NTV and has been invited on several interviews to share insights on various topics. This is the right blog for many who are passionate about lifestyle.

Jackson Biko

No blogger comes close to Jackson Biko storytelling abilities. The father of two is also a columnist with Businessdaily, author and an awarding blogger. His blog-bikozulu.co.ke-has a following most bloggers can only dream about.

Edgar Obare

The tea man has been accused of meddling in people’s affairs but his growing fanbase seem to love him for just that. He runs a blog bnn.ke which has a decent following. The blogger seemed to have crossed the red line when he suggested that Natalie Tewa was having an affair with Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho and had even accompanied him to Dubai. He was arrested for making the claims by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). His post before he was arrested read:

“As I said earlier I was summoned by the DCI. Today morning I was arrested by very many officers at my home. Now am headed to Nairobi. Thank you for your undying support.”

Through his blog, a lot of people have gained knowledge in freelance and some have even ventured into it. The blog has also been visited by thousands of people looking for knowledge on freelance writing.

With over 100,000 followers on her social media platform, Nancie has established herself as a popular fashion influencer. She has also won a few awards due to her catchy content.

Conclusion

Blogging is a lucrative job for most Kenyans. As long as one has the right content, it is possible to grow a blog. The names listed above, as mentioned earlier, do not include all the bloggers in Kenya as there are so many others that are just as inspirational and wonderful.

His rise to the top was a copy paste of the ‘from rags to riches stories’. Dennis Itumbi was a staunch defender of President Uhuru Kenyatta-if only he did not overdo it. His over-zealousness compounded with lack of tact-led to his demotion and ‘expulsion from State House where he enjoyed near unfettered access to the Head of State House.

Demotion
Before the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU) was restructured, Itumbi was the Digital Director Innovations & Diaspora Communication State House. The Deputy Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita was keen on streamlining the President’s unstructured communication that had made a habit of issuing statements-mostly conflicting-without approval. The first casualty was Dennis Itumbi. He was reportedly kicked out of State House and his changed bio was proof enough of a man whose career was sinking. His twitter bio has since changed to: Kenyan Journalist, Digital Strategist and Blogger. Currently Secretary Digital. Innovations&Diaspora Comms.

Apparently, CS Matiang’i through PSC, demanded that State House sack @OleItumbi and crew.

PSC wrote back saying that they have abolished the positions.

Still, there isn’t a letter communicating the individuals that they have been sacked. So technically, they haven’t. pic.twitter.com/ceslFqYugJ

— Original RAO (@RobertAlai) March 19, 2020

Working from Harambee Annex Office
According to a story appearing on Business Today, Dennis Itumbi is now working from Deputy President William Ruto’s Harambee House Annex office. With his propagandist credentials, Itumbi is seen as a valuable player in DP’s Ruto grand plans of being the next President of Kenya come 2022. His downfall was accelerated when Uhuru and his erstwhile political nemesis decided to bury the hatchet and work together in building a united Kenya. Ruto, who has been receiving bad publicity, will find the services of Dennis Itumbi useful ahead of the next presidential election. A recent poll by IPSOS ranked the DP as the most corrupt leader in Kenya.

Dennis Itumbi salary
While his salary still remains the same, it’s the trapping of power the 39 year old will miss most. However, all is not lost for the man who was a darling of TV political shows where he defended-if not vigorously-his boss and the Jubilee Party. His salary is estimated at kes320,000 and he will get much more working for the DP.
