In the Kenya’s vibrant sporting culture, certain secondary schools have risen above the rest, carving a name for themselves as champions in the world of football.
These institutions not only excel in academics but have also nurtured formidable football teams that have left an indelible mark on the nation’s sporting landscape.
Here are the school with the best football teams as compiled by WoK.
Madira Girls High School:
Located in Vihiga County, Madira Girls High School has emerged as a beacon of excellence in girls’ football.
Under the leadership of Mildred Selenwa, the school’s football team has etched an inspiring journey.
Renowned for cultivating top-tier talent, the school’s legacy shines through their remarkable qualification for the 2023/24 Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League.
Their triumph in Division One Zone ‘B’ secured them the distinction of being the first girls’ secondary school to grace the Women’s top-flight league.
The School however, suffered a blow after they failed to clinch the Kenya National Secondary Shool games that was held in Kakamega after facing a defeat against Wiyeta girls in the Semi-final.
St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale
Known affectionately as Solidarity Boys, St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale stands as a powerhouse in secondary school football.
Head Coach Peter Mayoyo’s guidance has propelled the school to remarkable heights, not just within Kenya but across the East African region.
Their crowning achievement came in 2018 when they claimed the title of East Africa Secondary School Football Champions.
With an impressive track record of five victories in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national football match finals, Solidarity Boys continue to set the bar high.
Their recent 2-0 victory over Dagoretti High School solidified their place as Kenya’s representatives in the East African Community football tournament.
Dagoretti High School
Located in the Dagoretti area of Nairobi County, Dagoretti High School stands as a prominent educational institution.
Renowned for its exceptional football prowess, the school has solidified its reputation as one of the finest in the country.
Notably, they have secured several titles on the national stage, including the prestigious Nairobi Regional Football Championship.

Agoro Sare
Agoro Sare Secondary School, a public institution, is situated in Oyugis Town within the Karachuonyo Constituency of Homa Bay County, Nyanza Region, Kenya.
This distinguished establishment stands as an all-boys boarding secondary school.
While renowned for its academic prowess, Agoro Sare also claims eminence in the realm of football, establishing itself as a heavyweight among schools in this sporting domain.
In the recently concluded Secondary School Games hosted in Kakamega, Agoro Sare found themselves ousted by Dagoretti High School during a gripping penalty shootout, following a tense 1-1 draw at the close of regulation time.
Despite this valiant effort, the Nyanza-based institution fell short of clinching third place in the competition.
Such a feat would have secured them a direct berth in the forthcoming East Africa School Games set to unfold in Rwanda.
Regrettably, their aspirations were quelled by a resounding 5-1 defeat against the formidable Shanderema team.
