Business Bay Square Mall: Inside Look At One Of The Largest Supermalls In East Africa Under Construction In Eastleigh

The number of malls in Kenya are on a steady increase even as others struggle to attract tenants. Business Bay Square Mall (BBS Mall) is the latest development project that sits on a 6.4 acre piece of land in Eastleigh, Nairobi. Once completed, the ambitious project is set to become the largest shopping complex in East Africa.

Business Bay Square mall is an ambitious project situated along General Waruinge Street in Eastleigh, Nairobi. The project sits on a 6.4 acre piece of land and will have up to 1,400 community stalls located on the lower ground floor, residential apartments involving 2 bedroom furnished houses and 3 bedroom unfurnished rooms and a standard 150 room business hotel.

It will have an outpatient hospital located on the second floor that will provide consultation and laboratory services and a world class mosque that will be located on the third floor covering an area of 1,200 square meters and able to accommodate around 1,500 people. The mall will have a food court facility that will host the best dining outlets, a modern and creative office space and a souk market that will involve the sale of jewelry, glassware, carpets, electronics and leather goods among many others.

It will have three floors, with the anchor space reserved for a supermarket, a cinema, clothing brand stores and a financial section with banks and ATMs. The remaining land will create space for storage facilities, ample parking, events & exhibition space, entertainment & recreational facilities and a modern swimming pool. The mall is being constructed by BML Limited, contractors from Chinese conglomerate CRJE, Maestro limited architect , structural engineers are from Stroutel Africa and the project managers from MaceYMR. The project is currently 90 percent done and is expected to be launched in early 2023.

BBS Mall is a multimillion mall owned by Ten Commodities Wholesalers limited, a business group registered in 2018 with its headquarters at Britam towers, Nairobi. The group was established with the goal of channeling resources to undertake significantly large trades in commodities and fund projects that change skylines. The company has interests in import and export of commodities such as tea, sugar, coffee, oil, wheat and other bulk grains across Africa and the Middle East.

The company is managed by a steering committee composed of Abdiweli Mohamed Hassan who serves as the Founder, Chairman and Director, Ali Bashi who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Yasin Hussein who is the Chief Financial Officer and Mokase Monono who is the Project Director.
