Bradley Marongo: Kenya’s Tallest Man Discusses Personal Life, Rising Fame and Challenges Of Towering Height

Bradley Marongo has been trending online after revealing that he is over 8 feet tall, making him the tallest man in Kenya.

In a Citizen TV interview, the remarkably tall man, whose height has greatly increased his fame, spoke about how his exceptional stature impacts his everyday life.

Borned and raised in Majengo ,Vihiga County, Marongo who identified himself as Bradley Mtall, stated that he moved to Nairobi two years ago in search of greener pastures, landing home a job as a stage hand otherwise known as ‘kamagera’ for Nairobi buses bound for the western part of the country.

Marongo revealed that he is 27 years old, earning him the moniker ‘Gen Z Goliath’ and is a father of two.

He discussed his physical appearance and personal life, highlighting how his height proves to be a setback when sourcing for clothes and shoes, noting that he wear a size 48 in shoes.

“Getting clothes is hard. Even when I’m going shopping I have a hard time because people would swarm me wondering where this tall man has come from,” he shared.

Marongo explained that he has never worn closed shoes all his life, and he gets a customized pair from his manufacturer to get the shoes of his choice.

Marongo first gained attention during the anti-finance bill protests when his videos and photos went viral, leaving people astonished by his height. Since then, his fame has grown, earning him nationwide recognition.

“Since then everything has been okay. I want to be known that way. Were it not for the fame, I wouldn’t be here right now,” he said.

Bradley Marongo has stated that he is open to any job opportunities that could help him secure a more stable income.

Extreme height, such as reaching 8 feet tall as in the case of Marongo is often caused by medical conditions like gigantism or acromegaly, both of which are typically linked to the overproduction of growth hormone by the pituitary gland.

Gigantism occurs when this hormone is excessly produced by the gland during childhood or adolescence, before the growth plates close, leading to abnormal height and growth of the bones.

Acromegaly on the other hand, usually develops in adulthood, after the growth plates have closed, causing bones to thicken rather than lengthen, which can result in an overall large stature, although not typically to the extent of gigantism.

In other cases, certain genetic conditions, such as Sotos syndrome, Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, and Weaver syndrome, can lead to gigantism and result in abnormal growth patterns.
