Well the company is headquartered in Kisii but has its Nairobi offices and fancy booking office in KTDA.

How it Started

Ena was founded in 2008, but operated under the umbrella of another leading transport services provider in Transline Classic.

In 2018, owners of the company felt that they could stand on their own feet, and in November that year, they branched out and officially started operating as Ena Coach.

The company operates a huge fleet of buses and has since made a name for itself on the country’s roads.

CEO

Richard Mogire is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Ena Investments Ltd.

He has operated within the ranks of the company since it was founded in 2008, and became its CEO when the company branched out from Transline Classic.

Type of Buses

When the company first started they mostly operated a fleet of vans. The government at the time had proposed the scrapping of vans for long distance travel, this forced the company to venture into buses.

Mogire and his fellow investors embarked on a survey and were adviced to consider acquiring and operating Scania buses.

In an interview last year, he stated that Ena has no regrets whatsoever operating Scania buses. As stakeholders in the PSV business, they exchange notes with their competitors, and according to the feedback, he says Scania is the best among all types of buses.

Today, Ena operates a fleet of Scania buses only.

“We have stuck with Scania buses and will do so for the coming years unless they give us a reason to try another product,” he stated.

He noted that though the buses can be expensive to acquire and even more to maintain, they have class and comfort.

‘When you really want to differentiate yourself from others in terms of class and comfort you go for a premium product,” the Ena CEO stated.

Adjustments to Covid-19

The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, resulted in a massive economic strain.

The transport sector was affected immensely as the government imposed mitigation measures such as social distancing, curfew hours and cessation of movement. This crippled the industry in terms of revenue.

The company, however, maintained high standards though out the cause, adhering to the set safety guidelines and offering face masks and hand sanitizers to its customers.

The company moved to install glass partitions at their booking offices to ensure they provide quality services while stemming the spread of Covid-19.

Ena Coach also maintained a relatively affordable and competitive price to retain and attract more customers.
