The drama pitting ex-lovers Lilian Ng’ang’a and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has all the hallmarks of a soap opera straight from Mexico. Lilian has accused the county chief of making her life unbearable through all kinds of machinations including financial sabotage.
Refusing to move on
The ex-Machakos first lady told a press conference that Mutua has refused to move on and has been issuing threats directed at her and her inner circle. In the presence of her lawyer Philip Murgor, Lilian recounted how “Mr. Mutua angrily termed me as his Enemy No 1, and threatened to ” crush me to ash ”, as he takes away everything I have and own.”
The fidgety Lilian stated that the governor had made good his threats and was demanding “that I refund any money he has ever given to me or made available for my use. He also threatened to harm persons close to me.”

She cleared the air on their marital status saying they were not married but were long term partners.
“At a meeting at Windsor Golf and Country Club on September 22, I requested Mutua for a mature and amicable separation and reminded him that after all we were not legally married. We were long-term partners,” she stated.
Property they co-own
KBY 186G
This was Lilian’s personal car that has since been sold by Mutua. According to stylish former Machakos first lady, the Governor in the company of his police guard took his car without her consent.

“Mutua, accompanied by his police guard, Martin Nzinghi arrived at my apartment parking lot at Kileleshwa, Nairobi, and without my knowledge or consent and using a spare key which he had illegally obtained, drove way my personal motor vehicle KBY 186G- a car which had been fully registered in my name since 2014,” she told the press.
A & L Hotel
A & L Hotel in Machakos county opened its doors to the public on July 24, 2020. The initials of the luxurious all white hotel stand for Alfred and Lilian. The ex-Machakos first lady had a 45% stake in the hotel through Ndash Enterprises LTD.
According to Lilian, the governor fraudulently transferred her shares to his sister Ann Mbandi Mutua.
“…….. Mr. Mutua recently transferred my shares in the Ndash Enterprises LTD (the hotel company) to his sister Ann Mbandi Mutua.
Again, a clear act of fraud . At no point did I execute a transfer of my shares or otherwise transfer my 1800 shares ( 45 %) shareholding in the company to him, let alone his sister.
In a past interview, Mutua claimed to have started his own “company at the age of 19 years; where I formed a company then left the country. When I came back I started ‘Cobra Squad’ where the first series earned me Sh25 million and the next film earned me Sh11 million”.
He said he used the proceeds of his sweat to buy apartments in Nairobi and invested in an aviation company.
