Simbisa Brands is a Quick Service Restaurant, an Innscor subsidiary that officially opened its first Chicken Inn outlet in 1987 in Harare, Zimbabwe. Innscor was listed on ZSE in 1998 to boost its presence around Africa.

Simbisa Brands was fully incorporated as a subsidiary on 5th August 2015. This then gave room for expansion and reaching to more African countries including Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Malawi, Swaziland, Mauritius, DRC, Malawi, and Kenya.

The fast-food chain owns the following brands across Africa. As of 2021, Simbisa operates 513 restaurants in nine countries. The most recognizable brand is Chicken Inn and Pizza Inn which offers a range of meal options including fried chicken, burgers, fresh rotisserie chicken, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, and chips.

Simbisa Brands Owners and Board of Directors

Zinona Koudounaris

As earlier stated, Simbisa Brands is an incorporated subsidiary of Innscor which was formed in 1987. Zinona Koudounaris, an alumnus of South Africa’s Rhodes University founded the entity contributing immensely to the development of the initial fast food stores and driving strategy and successful management of the entity. Zed currently holds the position of a Non-Executive director.

 

Basil S. Dionisio

This is the group’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, a role he took up after serving as Executive Director & Director-Quick Service at Innscor Africa Ltd.

Basil has been present throughout Simbisa’s existence and therefore has an intricate understanding of the entity. He runs operations, fosters company culture, and promotes the franchise’s growth with his understanding of the African market.

Addington Chinake

Chinake is a Senior Simbisa Brands Partner who currently holds the position of Non-Executive Chairman in the board. Professionally trained as a legal practitioner, he is a valued asset not only to the company but also to the general Zimbabwe commercial field.

Baldwin Guchu

Trained as a professional accountant, Baldwin couples his background training and previous experience to hold the position of Group Finance Director. 

Amit Gupta

Amit is a Non-Executive Director on the board having eighteen years of experience in different fields including tax and advisory, litigation, and finance. He has worked with the big four chartered accountants over his career along with belonging to different companies’ and funds’ boards to contribute to strategic business moves.

Jaqueline Hussein
