Former Citizen TV news anchor Hussein Mohamed will go down history books as one of the best journalists in Kenya especially when it comes to interviewing high profile personalities. His new appointment as Head of Communication at the William Ruto campaign secretariat came as a surprise to many and a big plus to deputy president political messaging.

Where was he born?
The ex-Citizen TV anchor at Moi Air Base in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
Father’s career?
The award winning journalist’s father was a soldier in the Kenya Air Force.
Growing Up
Hussein grew up at the base until he hit 19 years. He told Sunday Nation’s Hillary Kimunyu that he used to play a lot of football with his brothers and friends. The journalist went on to add that he still has tremendous connection to the base.

Siblings
He has eight siblings. His elder brother passed away in 2000.
Where he went to school
He was a pupil at Moi Air Base before proceeding to Jamhuri High School for his O-levels. His father was under pressure to enrol him in a boarding school but opted otherwise. He credits Jamhuri High for teaching him to be street smart.
Hussein Mohamed studied for a diploma in broadcast journalism at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and later on joined the University of Nairobi for an undergraduate degree in political science and communications.
The journalist has a Masters degree in diplomacy from the same university and has plans of enrolling for a PhD.

After resigning from Citizen TV
After his surprise resignation from Citizen TV, the journalist went into consultancy as an individual and through his firm. Hussein has worked with nine county governments-to among other things-support their communications functions and structures under the USAID. He also worked with the United Nations and many other organisations.
