This is arguably one of-if not- the best fish restaurant in Nairobi and for all the good reasons. Packed with a rich history, Hagon Fish and Seafood started way back in 2002 in Gikomba market before moving to its current location in Garden Estate off Thika Superway, just after Roasters Inn.

In its infancy, the proprietors were only in the business of supplying fish. This however changed over the years as the demand for cleaner, fresher and better quality fish increased prompting a rethink in the original business strategy.

Birthing Hagon Restaurant

In response to customers’ demands, Hagon restaurant and processing plant was opened in its current location in Garden City Estate. And the eatery has been a magnet for fish lovers. For starters, customers select the fish they want from a large basin which is then prepared as one waits.

Deliveries at the comfort of your home or office are also available.

The fish is very fresh and is prepared to your specifications, living up to the Hagon’s motto: ‘tomorrow’s lunch is still in the lake’. Other services offered include outside catering.

Seafood

While the menu of Hagon does not include seafood, customers have an option of buying from their shop. Orders can also be delivered via online delivery apps in Nairobi and its environs. “We have prawns, octopus, squid, white and red snapper. Salmon is sourced from Norway”, Hagon Restaurant manager Mr Julius Githinji told WoK.

Ambience of the restaurant

Hagon is well aerated and spaced. It’s a perfect joint to enjoy your meal and can also afford one of the perfect environments to hold a meeting as the joint doesn’t play loud music. The green themed restaurant is punctuated with live plants creating a relaxed mood. According to Mr. Githinji, the establishment can hold up to 200 customers comfortably at any one given time.

Renowned interior architect Victor Muigai and a patron of Hagon told this writer that the sumptuous meal in the restaurant is complemented by the ‘outdoor feel’ of the establishment.

“The byword for modernism is openness which has been effectively employed at Hagon”, the CEO of Ridadi Interiors offered.

Fish processing

Hygiene is Hagon’s Byword if their squeaky clean fish processing unit is anything to go by. The modern cold room receives only 800 fish per day from Lake Victoria which are processed and packaged for storage or delivery to clients.

Supplying Fish

The high quality fish from Hagon has earned them big time clients in Nairobi, Machakos and as far as Nakuru. “Hagon is trusted in supplying fish to hotels, hospitals and other institutions as we have invested in quality fish-handling capabilities”, the affable manager stated.

Some of their clients include The Nairobi Hospital, Funcity, RSC, Taidy’s, Perfectus, Ruiru Golf Club, Jumuia Resort, Young Chris and Sunstar.
