Catherine Muraga is the Managing Director of Microsoft Corporation’s African Development Center (ADC). The ADC is a one of a kind in Africa and has so far provided jobs for over 450 engineers and hundreds of employees in other fields.
The US$27 million project, located at Dunhill towers in Westlands, was officially opened by president Uhuru Kenyatta in a colorful ceremony. Catherine Muraga took over from Jack Ngare who is now the Technical Director in the office of the Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft Cloud.
The new MD has had successful stints in the aviation, manufacturing and banking sectors.
Education
The experienced professional holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Africa Nazarene University. She is also a product of Columbia Business School Digital Strategies for Business and Oxford University Fintech program.
Career
Catherine has worked as the director of Information Technology and operations at Sidian bank. She then left for Stanbic bank where she has been working as the lead engineer in Kenya and South Sudan. She also worked with the bank as the Chief Information Officer. Other roles she has held include:

- Manager IS, Office Automation and Service Delivery at Kenya Airways from 2010 to 2013.
- Team leader, IS Support at East Africa Breweries Ltd from 2003 to 2010.
On Thursday 2nd June 2021, she was appointed the Managing Director at African Development Center.
“I am excited to be joining ADC at this particular time and look forward to continuing the tremendous work that has already began,” she said upon her appointment as MD.
As the MD of ADC, the seasoned IT expert, will work with a team of dynamic and experienced engineers in various fields including Artificial Intelligence.
