The National Storytelling Conference took place last Saturday, bringing together various stakeholders across the media and corporate sector. The aim of the conference was to build a strong community comprising of innovators, investors, and entrepreneurs with a passion for networking and collaborating.
WoK was in attendance, and spoke to the conference organizer to understand what the event was about and what it hopes to achieve.
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do
My name is Socrates, I am a digital strategist and PR person. I am also the convener for this year’s premiere National storytelling conference.
Tell us about today’s event, the National Storytelling Conference
The National Storytelling Conference is a platform for entrepreneurs and professionals to come together and explore different areas of collaborations and share experiences. We want to create a future-proof for entrepreneurship ecosystem in the country.
What was the motive behind this conference?
The main aim for the conference is to provide an environment for building collaborations as well as sharing experiences. This is our premiere conference, strategically held just before the August 9 elections. To this end, I would like to call on the government to create systems that are enabling for entrepreneurship and businesses to thrive.
What do you hope to achieve with the conference?
It is my hope that attendees will be able to share experiences and possibly collaborate on different ventures. It is also my hope that we will be able to discuss areas of interest with each other, share common challenges and possibly come up with solutions to these issues.
Is this conference a one-time thing or should we expect more like this?
As I mentioned, this is the premiere conference, so we will definitely hold more in the future.
Tell is a bit about the speakers and how you selected them?
The panel presenting today is a highly experienced one, drawn from different sectors. I carefully selected them because of their prowess in their respective fields, hoping that they will inspire other attendees with their experiences. As I said, this is a platform for sharing ideas, so I am glad that we get to hear from their wealth of knowledge.
