The Emory Hotel is a multi-million four-star hotel located in the posh Kileleshwa estate in Nairobi. It is owned by billionaire businesswoman and Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) founder Lizzie Wanyoike.
In June 2018, Mrs Wanyoike told Business Daily that the 72-bed capacity hotel would operate strictly as a profit-oriented business.
“We are seeking to use the hotel as a job-creation venture and we have already recruited staff in all of its departments. We will also offer opportunities to suppliers to partner with us in making the business profitable as well as serve our tax obligations for the benefit of the national economy,” she said.
Lizzie further stated that the hotel would offer NIBS hospitality students practical skills, attachment and employment.
According to the publication, the hotel cost Ksh450 million to construct. It was funded by Equity Bank through a negotiated credit package.
