Mediamax Network Limited seemingly ranks among the worst employers in the country. The company was on a charm offensive bringing in A-list journalists to increase its viewership. They poached journalists from KTN and Citizen TV in a bid to be among the top broadcasters in the country. The likes of Betty Kyallo were unveiled amid fanfare as the new look K24 geared itself for the competition. This move badly backfired as the holding company of the People Daily Newspaper, Tv stations (Kameme and K24) Radio stations ( Emoo FM, Milele FM, Kameme FM, Msenangu (formerly Pilipili FM), Mayian FM and Meru FM), started firing its staff.
20 Staff Fired
Last month, the Mediamax Ltd sent 20 employees’ home without notice inorder to cut on costs.
Other ‘luxuries’ that were withdrawn on the retained clients include:
Afternoon tea
airtime tokens
No access to the Star, Standard, Daily Nation and Business Daily newspapers.
150 staff sacked
The sacking of 150 employees is the latest onslaught on Mediamax Ltd. The staff were declared redundant with effect from October 30, 2019.
