John Ndung’u Muiru is a man who seems to have pleased the gods of good fortune as they smiled at him with double blessings on the same day. While undergoing vetting to become an Executive Committee member (CEC) in charge of Lands, Physical Planning, and Urbanization in Nyandarua County, he received news that he had won Ksh38.7 million Sportpesa jackpot.

The Nyandarua CEC nominee was announced as this year’s SportPesa Midweek Jackpot winner on Friday 28th October 2022 on the same day he was being vetted. He presented himself at the Sportpesa offices in Nairobi on Sunday 30th October 2022. Speaking to Tuko, Sportpesa Marketing Communications manager Lola Okulo confirmed that indeed John Ndung’u Muiru was Nyandarua County CEC nominee.
“Yes, I can confirm that he is a CEC nominee in Nyandarua County. In fact, that is the reason why he didn’t make it to the Sportpesa offices on Friday because he was attending the interview for the position,” she confirmed.
Muiru who lost his job in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic expressed his gratitude to God and explained that he has been going through a difficult time.
“It is all God because I have not been in employment since my retrenchment when Covid-19 struck. Life has been hard since then, but today, I am really happy. In the last two weeks, good things have been happening in my life, and it’s like a dream,” he said.
Love for Sports
Muiru revealed that he is a huge fan of Gor Mahia FC in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) and Manchester City in the English Premier League (EPL). He went on to state that he supports Brazil in the World Cup tournament set to kickstart on 20th November 2022 in Doha, Qatar. He told Tuko that he is a fan of SportPesa jackpots and was eyeing the Ksh 258,230,739 Mega Jackpot.
He won the midweek jackpot after predicting all the 13 games correctly. He spent Ksh100 to place 10 bets and one of them bagged the price. According to Venas News, the Nyandarua CEC has been betting for 7 years without winning anything but he never gave up. He wasn’t sure of winning, he just paced the bets and went about with his normal activities leaving the rest to God. Muiru plans to use part of winnings for charity activities including supporting a seminary student to pursue his studies.
