Bosire Bogonko: The Illustrious career Of RentCo Africa Limited Kenya Country Head

Bosire Bogonko is the RentCo Africa Limited country head. 

He has been at the helm of the company since August 2021 and has spearheaded its rapid growth within the Kenyan market. In a recent venture with Stanbic Bank and DT Dobie, RentCo sealed a multi-million shilling deal to lease squad cars to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Background & Education

According to his LinkedIn profile, Bosire Bogonko attended the University of Nairobi (UoN) from 1996 to 2000. During his time at the institution, the RetCo country head was involved in a number of activities and societies including; the school soccer team, basketball team, Marketing Students Association, Finance Students Association, and Students in Free Enterprise.

In 2004, he attended the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) for a postgraduate diploma in Marketing. He also holds a diploma in finance from Strathmore University, having attended the institution between 2007 and 2008.

Career

Between August 2002 and December 2007, Bogonko worked as a marketing coordinator at Toyota Tsusho Africa. He

He was later promoted to Team Leader, Sales & Marketing (EAC), a role he held from 2008 to 2013. Between 2008 and March 2014, he also served as a consultant for Toyota Kenya.

Bosire Bogonko also served as the main responsibility was to provide strategic sales, marketing and managerial support to the Agriculture Division (which recently acquired the Case IH agricultural equipment franchise) across the East African region focusing on agricultural equipment distribution, market research, brand marketing, trade marketing, planning, insights, network development and business support.

He then joined RentCo Africa Limited as the director of special projects from December 2020 and held the position through to July 2021. In this role, his primary responsibilities were to ensure the successful conclusion of all projects assigned to him. He was responsible for leading, organizing, and performing corporate projects alongside his duties of business development.

Bosire Bogonko was appointed RentCo country head in August 2021 and has held the position to date.

DCI deal

RentCo Africal Limited in a joint leasing venture with Stanbic Bank Kenya and DT Dobie, delivered 50 sports utility vehicles to the DCI in a deal worth Ksh510 million. In the 4-year contract, the officers will receive 111 Volkswagen Tiguans valued at Ksh4.6 million each.

The vehicles will be assigned to officers across the country.

“The vehicles we’ve received today (Friday) will go a long way in ensuring the smooth running of our operations,” said Daniel Muriuki, the DCI director of logistics.

Stanbic Bank is the financier, RentCo will arrange the leasing and DT Dobie will supply and service the SUVs.

“We are greatly honoured to partner with DT Dobie and RentCo Africa, as the financial partner, to support the National Police Service to enhance their operational effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery to the public,” said Charles Mudiwa, Stanbic Bank Kenya’s chief executive.

Since 2013, the government has leased more than 3,000 police vehicles in a bid to cut costs and improve police mobility.

Bosire Bogonko noted that there is increased uptake of vehicle leasing by various government departments.

“In today’s uncertain financial climate, leasing of movable assets stands out as a viable alternative, flexible and creative financing option enabling organisations to acquire today’s assets or equipment, at today’s price, but paid with tomorrow’s revenues,” he said.
