Former Gor Mahia goalkeeper Mathew Ottamax Owino has been put on the spot for allegedly flaunting a house belonging to a businessman while claiming that it is his.

On November 29, 2022, the goalkeeper appeared on KTN’s Art of Living where he showcased a 12-bedroom mansion estimated to be Ksh 260 million.

The house situated in the suburbs of Nairobi features well-manicured gardens and a big swimming pool.

The house’s enormous living room has a vast window covered with white sheers and thick white curtains and a fireplace which has two art pieces displayed on it.

The house also has a modern gypsum ceiling fitted with a chandelier, recliner sofas, a huge TV, a glass table and a traditional fireplace.

However, after airing of the episode, a section of Kenyans online have questioned his alleged ownership of the mansion.

The mansion has been linked to Allan Igambi, former Controller of Budget and Nairobi County Executive Member for Finance and 40Forty Lounge owner.

The house had four portraits, but none of them had Ottamax’s photos, on of the photo on the portrait clearly showed Igambi’s face.

At some point, the former goalkeeper mentioned Igambi while showing a piece of art which he said he was gifted by the businessman.

Inside one of the bedrooms, carrier bags with 40Forty branding were hanged on the wall, an indicator that he Igambi might be the owner of the house.

Also, Ottomax works as the sports ambassador for 40Forty.

But who is Igambi?

Igambi is the co-founder of 40Forty nightclub which he co-owns with his wife, Irene.

He is also the former Controller of Budget and Nairobi County Executive Member for Finance.

In 2020, he was hard pressed to explain claims that more than Ksh 280 million was lost through payments of irregular pending bills.

In July 2022, Igambi was sacked by the then Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu after being transferred to the Finance to the Food and Agriculture docket as acting CEC.

40Forty Lounge is a popular club located in Nairobi’s Westlands area opened in 2017.

The lounge has been dominating banter on Twitter and other social media platforms courtesy of the raunchy photos of revellers exposing acres of flesh.

40Forty features three distinct spaces for guests; the main club, balcony level and outdoor terrace, each highlighting a unique experience and vantage point for club-goers to enjoy.
