Protus Wandela Ndombi is the chief principal of Friends School Kamusinga as the new principal. Wandela assumed control from Alex Maina Kariuki who has been steering the giant institution for 5 years.
The move is an outcome of a directive by the National Assembly Committee on Education which reversed the infamous delocalisation policy by Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC).
As a result, at least 14000 teachers will shift institutions by 23rd January, 2023. TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia has implored Secretaries and Regional Directors to ensure compliance with the National Assembly’s recommendation.
Who Is Protus Wandela?
The new principal is described as a teacher with a midas touch and has been teaching at the institution for over a decade. His zeal, passion and gusto in being a tutor has earned him the prestigious post.
Wandela is a teacher of Biology and Agriculture. While at Kamusinga, he served in various positions such as the boarding master docket. While taking this position, he ensured that students complied with both personal grooming the school’s cleanliness policy.
But his rise has not been meteoric, instead it has been a steady rise up the echelons of the institution. He would later serve as the senior master, a position that was considered the third most powerful after the principal and deputy principal.
Wandela understood that the success of the institution was highly dependant on the discipline of the students.
He would majestically walk along the pavements of the school and storm various classrooms to ensure that learners were committed to academic excellence. Wandela then rose to the position of deputy principal.
Extracurricular Activities
One of the factors that makes Friends School Kamusinga outstanding is their ability to silence others both academically and in extracurricular activities. The school takes pride in nurturing some of the best Kenyan sports personalities.
As a teacher, Mr. Wandela has served as the coach for various disciplines in the school including volleyball, football and rugby. As he takes over the tutelage of the institution, it is without an iota of doubt that he is the best man for the job.
His colleagues and alumni have expressed optimism that he will uphold the high standards of the Bungoma County based institution.
