Rachel Chebukati: Flowery Career Of Wafula Chebukati’s Only Daughter

Rachel Chebukati is former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati’s daughter.

She came into the limelight during the August 8 General Elections when his father was facing criticism over the presidential election results.

Rachel is among people who stood by the former IEBC chair during the difficult moment that saw William Ruto declared the president elect.

Here is her story as told by WoK.

Rachel Chebukati is a Senior State Counsel and a certified professional mediator.

She studied under the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum at Agha Khan Academy in Mombasa between 2003 to 2008.

At the same institution, Rachel undertook International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma from 2008 to 2010.

She then enrolled at the University of Nairobi (UoN) in 2010 for a Bachelor’s Degree and graduated in 2014.

In 2015, Rachel joined Kenya School of Law where she pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Law and graduated in 2016.

Between 2011 and 2014, she also undertook a Bachelor’s Degree at USIU-Africa.

In 2017, she proceeded to join University of Dundee in Scotland to pursue a Master’s Degree and graduated in 2018.

In June 2021, she started working as a Senior State Counsel at the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice.

She started working at the Attorney’s office after stints in various law firms including Sherman Nyongesa & Mutubia Advocates and Bowmans.

Rache is also Honorary Secretary, Board of Trustees at the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF), Kenya.

“I was nominated to the position of Trustee of JGF by the Kenya Ladies Golf Union. I was later elected Hon. Secretary by the Board of Trustees

“I serve in this position on a voluntary basis and I’m the youngest member of the Board,” she wrote on her LinkedIn.

According to her LinkedIn, she provides legal advice on commercial matters to Government Ministries, Departments  and Agencies.

She boasts experience in international law, petroleum law, investment law, human rights law and sports law.

Rachel also negotiates and vets bilateral and multilateral financing agreements, procurement contracts and a variety of local and international commercial contracts.

Additionally, she is proficient at advising and representing clients in courts, drafting subsidiary legislation and legal research and writing.
