Oscar Sudi, the Kapsaret Member of Parliament, is a notable political figure and an entrepreneur who rose from humble beginnings to achieve success as both a businessman and politician.

In a candid media interview with Dr. King’ori on NTV, Sudi revealed a painful chapter of his life – losing Ksh11 million to a con scheme.

The money he lost was the result of his successful foray into agriculture, specifically wheat farming in Narok County.

He had diversified his ventures over the years, transitioning from the matatu business to land brokering, before finding success in wheat farming.

His bumper harvest had brought him significant profits, but the unfortunate encounter with a con scheme wiped it all away.

Rather than pointing fingers at the perpetrators, Sudi took full responsibility for his loss, attributing it to greed.

“After I had upgraded and stopped the pool table venture, sold my matatu because it was a fake business and then ventured into land brokering. After that, I went to Narok where I started farming Wheat. I raised Ksh11 million, but I was conned all that money,” Sudi narrated.

Despite this setback, Sudi used his platform to offer advice and guidance to Kenyan youth.

He encouraged them to prioritize creating wealth and seeking self-employment opportunities using mobile technology.

He lamented the rise of cyberbullying among young people, emphasizing the need to channel their energy into constructive and productive endeavors that build networks and foster financial stability.

Sudi’s journey into entrepreneurship began at a tender age, driven by the harsh realities of poverty.

As a young boy attending primary school, he found ingenious ways to make money by selling fruits and snacks to fellow.

” I started my first business venture while in Primary School. I used to sell fruits during break time. During lunch breaks, I used to buy scones and sweets from my friend at Moi University and sell them to students,” Sudi narrated.

This early exposure to entrepreneurship laid the foundation for his future success as a businessman.

As he grew older, Sudi engaged in the charcoal business, which not only provided him with income but also introduced him to new connections in the farming industry.

“Every weekend I used to visit a place called Laini Moja where charcoal burners were operating from, where I could collect left charcoal. I ensured that I collected one and half sack on Saturday and Sunday,” he added.

He seized opportunities to invest in farming and made a significant profit of Ksh100,000 after one successful farming season.

This encouraged him to venture further into business, re-investing his earnings in the fuel industry.

One significant turning point in Sudi’s life was his decision to purchase pool tables, which he strategically placed in Kariobangi.

The venture proved highly profitable, earning him between Ksh1,200 to Ksh2,000 per day.

This successful stint further fueled his entrepreneurial ambitions and enabled him to expand his business horizons.

Building on his growing wealth and networks, Sudi entered the world of land brokering, where he experienced substantial financial growth.

His endeavors in the business world not only helped him build personal wealth but also enabled him to create a wide network of connections – a valuable asset that would later support his transition into politics.
