Cassandra Ventura, known by the stage name Cassie, is an American singer, model and actress. She has been in the industry for close to two decades having started soon after completing high school.

Cassie Ventura Early Life and Education
She was born on 26th August 1986 in New London, Connecticut. The RnB singer was born to a Filipino father while her mother was of West Indian, Mexican and African-American descent.
She attended a preparatory school called The Williams School located at the Connecticut College Campus.
She began modelling at the age of 14 and by 16 she was working with department stores.
Music and Acting Career
After completing high school in 2004, she moved to New York city. Late 2004, Cassie was spotted in clubs and parties by Ryan Leslie. The two wrote a duet called Kiss Me.
Ryan played it for music executive Tommy Mattola who offered her a management deal and she was signed to Nextselection Lifestyle Group.
In 2005, she released her debut single called Me & U. She then partnered with Bad Boy Records to release her first Album.
On 8th August 2006, she released the album Cassie which was a mix of R&B, hip hop and pop. She sold 321,000 copies in the United States and the lead single Me&U peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, selling over one million digital downloads.
In 2008, she appeared in the dance film Step Up 2: The Streets as Sophie Donovan. She was also the singer of the lead single Is it You to the Step Up soundtrack. The song was released on 13th November 2007 and peaked at 85 in the Canadian Hot 100 and 52 in the UK’s The Official Charts Company.
In July 2009, she said her new album title would be Electro Love. She promised fans something different in terms of vocals, and Personality. Three singles that were released from the album are: Official Girl ft Lil Wayne, Must be Love ft Diddy and Let’s Get Crazy ft Alon. None of the singles made it to the US charts.
In 2009, it was announced, she had been signed with Interscope Records. She appeared in Wiz Kalifa,’s music video Roll Up and then released the single King of Hearts in 2012. In September 2012, she was featured on Nicki Minaj’s The Boys.
On 11th April 2013, Ventura released the mixtape Rockabyebaby. It was named the mixtape of the year by Dazed & Confused. It saw the release of Numb which featured Rick Ross and Paradise that feature Wiz Khalifa. In April 2013, she was announced the face of the Summer 2013 Forever 21 collection.
On 2016, she appeared as the lead actor in the romantic comedy The Perfect Match. At the end of 2017, she released the singles: Don’t Play it Safe and Love a Loser which featured rapper G-Eazy.
The songwriter left Bad Boys Record and in 2019 released several singles including: Excuses, Hangover, Don’t Let Go, Speaking Of, Teach Me and Simple Things.
Cassie Ventura Dating P Diddy
The Me&U singer dated Sean Combs “Diddy” from 2007 to 2018. In November 2023, she filed a lawsuit against him saying she had been subjected to a 10-year cycle of abuse, violence and sex trafficking by Diddy.
The lawsuit described the award winning rapper as a “vicious, cruel and controlling man”, who “asserted complete control over Ms. Ventura’s personal and professional life”.
She claimed the abuse began at the start of the relationship and included a rape in 2018 after she tried to leave him. Domestic violence was also cited. Combs’ attorney, Ben Brafman, denied the allegations and later an out of court settlement was reached by the parties.
The artist said of her decision to to settle the lawsuit,
“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.”
On his part, Diddy said, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
Ben Brafman went on to state that the decision to settle the matter of court was not an admission of guilt,
“Just so we’re clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing. Mr. Combs‘ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.”

In 2018, she began dating Alex Fine and the couple announced they were expecting their first child together in June 2019. They got married in September 2019 and welcomed their first daughter in December 2019 and their second daughter in March 2021.
