As Kenyans come to terms with the death of Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike, the founder and chief executive officer of Nairobi Institute of Technology and Business Studies (formerly Nairobi Institute of Business Studies – NIBS), the family has settled on her final resting place.

The 73 year old educationist and entrepreneur par excellence will be buried at her ex-husband residence.

According to the family, the funeral ceremony will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

“Prayers shall be conducted in Garden Estate, Oaklane, Opposite Oakplace House number 13 from Tuesday, January 16, 2024,” the family announced.

A memorial service is slated for January 18,2024 at the ACK St. Joseph of Arimathea, Thome Estate along Thika Road.

She was married to the later former Gatanga Member of Parliament, Mr Mburu Wanyoike, for 25 years before they went their separate ways.

Mrs Wanyoike has repeatedly stated that her husband was a good man who gave his children the best.

Apart from serving as Gatanga MP for one term (1992 to 1997), Mr Mburu was also a director of Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC). He passed on in 2018.

The couple married in 1972 and separated 25 years later on account of divergent views on business and other interests.

They were blessed with three children-Wanyoike Mburu, Stella Wanjiru, and Eric Kariuki.
