Ted Josiah is getting plaudits for his determination and patience after building his now-popular Jokajok line of luxury bags.

Prominent Kenyan hotelier Mohammed Hersi described Ted as an outlier, a man who creates a new path.

Penning the touching post on his Facebook page, Hersi celebrated Ted Josiah for his resilience and never-say-die spirit.

“When you see Jokajok Luxury Leather products on TikTok and Instagram, it has been a long journey for Ted. It has not been easy for Ted; he lost his wife when he was just setting up. He not only had a young business to look after, but he also had to play the role of a mother & father to his young baby girl, who is growing up under his love and care,” Hersi wrote.

“Ted, my brother, I celebrate you. If it’s resilience and never says die spirit, then that is you,” Hersi added.

The Mombasa-based hotelier also pointed out that Ted was encouraging the growth of the cottage industry which was of high quality.

“Made in Kenya is possible, and above all, it is of high quality. This is one cottage industry that any tourist will be happy to visit and see how Kenyans and Africans are making a difference in their own lives despite all the challenges we face day in and day out,” he said.

Previously WoK wrote an article on how Ted Josiah quit music to start his leather bag business.

The price of the bags ranges from KSh 9500 to KSh 29500.

The bags are popular not just in Kenya but in the diaspora with prominent personalities like Betty Maina and Chief Justice Martha Koome having been spotted carrying them.
