Former Communications Authority (CA) Director-General Ezra Chiloba has revealed his net worth.
Chiloba said his net worth currently is at KSh 800 million.
He confessed while appearing before the National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations for vetting on Thursday, April 11.
President William Ruto had nominated Chiloba to serve as Kenya’s Consul-General in Los Angeles, USA.
Ezra Chiloba told the vetting committee that he started making money at a young age, leading to the early accumulation of wealth.
“I have been very fortunate because I started working while still in school in 2001. Currently, I engage in agri-business and I plant and sell avocados on my farm in Kitale. Over the years I have also been able to save money derived from formal employment and my consultancy business,” he said.
Chiloba also defended his time at the IEBC.
“When I served at IEBC, I did my best to turn it around but THE focus has always been on what went wrong. There is a lot I did at the commission that even contributed to the prosperity of last year’s elections.” Chiloba said.
On his exit from CA, Chiloba insisted he was cleared of any corruption by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
“My exit from the authority was due to a conflict of vision with some people. I decided to exit because I did not want things to escalate to where they were when I was at IEBC. I have since been cleared by EACC over the allegations of mismanaging staff mortgages,” he said.
