Pastor James Wanjohi: Flashy Preacher Allegedly Cons KSh 600 Million From Job Seekers

Pastor James Wanjohi of Jesus Culture Ministries is alleged to have conned 4000 Kenyans and gone into hiding.

Wanjohi is said to have defrauded desperate Kenyan job seekers planning to move abroad.

The pastor used his company named WorthStart Agency based in Nairobi.

According to Nation, more than 4,000 job seekers paid KSh 100,000 each to his agency. The amount he is said to have defrauded totals to KSh 600 million.

His agency’s office at Pension Towers, Nairobi, was raided by DCI detectives following complaints from victims of the  alleged con.

Kenyans who lost their money reported it to the police, they claimed losing money has made their lives miserable and stuck in debt.

“They promised to secure me a job in Canada, I went ahead and borrowed money elsewhere and since January they’ve been ignoring me and yet they’re holding my passport. I just want my money back,” a victim is quoted.

Wanjohi who has also doubled in politics and unsuccessfully ran for nomination under the UDA party for the Roysambu Parliamentary seat.

The youthful pastor has been known for his flashy lifestyle where he showed off his multi-million car collections and designer outfits.

In December 2023 the flashy preacher gifted his sister a multi-million car.

He shared the video on social media platforms with many wondering how he made his wealth.

“Just a small token of a Mercedes to colour your mood, I love you small sister ,” Wanjohi posted.
