Police have arrested two men who were filmed in a viral video hanging dangerously in a speeding white car along Mombasa road.
The two were arrested on Monday and will appear in court on Tuesday.
The men were spotted hanging in the car’s windows, dancing and making hand gestures to other motorists.
According to NTV, the two are being detained at Capital Hill Police Station in Nairobi.
The car was impounded and is being held at Nairobi Area Traffic Headquarters.
Police are hunting for the female driver who has gone into hiding.
The two men caused outrage on social media after the video went viral, and the incident got the attention of the Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen.
Murkomen exposed the identity of the car owner and promised action against the offenders.
“We are concerned and a responsible citizen has alerted us. We will do what we have to do,” the CS said.
National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) said about 1,189 lives were lost in road accidents in the last three months.
In the report seen by WoK, the accidents are from January 1 to April 1.
Among the 7,198 Kenyans, NTSA reveals that 1,189 perished from road accidents, 3,316 were seriously injured and 2,693 got minor injuries.
