Legendary Nollywood actor Mr Ibu has finally been laid to rest.
The actor was buried in his hometown of Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State in Nigeria.
The family had released a five schedule for his burial celebrations.
The burial celebrations started on Tuesday, June 25 with a game that that involved popular celebrities.
On Wednesday, June 26, there was a candlelight vigil and entertainment. The event was dubbed ‘Mr Ibu’s Night.’
On Thursday, June 27, the family organised a Christian service at Mr Ibu’s home in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West.
Friday, June 28, is the actor’s burial day.
The family also announced that on Sunday they will hold a Thanksgiving ceremony.
The burial of the actor comes three months after his death.
Mr Ibu died in March 2024 in Lagos after cardiac arrest, following complications from the amputation of one of his legs.
His real name is John Okafor and was born and raised in Enugu.
He gained fame and worldwide recognition in 2004 with the film “Mr Ibu.
In his prolific career over the decades, he has appeared in more than 200 Nollywood films, becoming a household name with hits such as ‘Mr Ibu,’ ‘Mr. Ibu and His Son,’ ‘Coffin Producers,’ ‘Husband Suppliers,’ ‘International Players,’ ‘Mr. Ibu in London,’ and ‘Police Recruit.’
The late actor is a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu State.
Mr Ibu had a comedic talent and unique style which endeared him to millions of fans both in Nigeria and the world.
He died at the age of 62.
