Vincent Chepkwony, the security who was fired for sheltering protesters has been awarded for his heroic act.
Chepkwony has also been reinstated to his job after being fired.
Vincent Chepkwony was stationed at Java House Kimathi Street when he rescued members of the public during the protests.
Private Security Regulatory Authority in a statement signed by its chief executive officer Fazul Mohamed praised Chepkwony.
Chepkwony was handed his award as well as the letter of reinstatement by Mohamed.
The security guard was awarded the highest honour for Private Security in Kenya.
“Mr Vincent Chepkwony, The Heroic and Courageous Security Guard stationed at Java House Kimathi Street who got fired for sheltering and shielding members of the public from harm during street demonstrations has been REINSTATED and has subsequently been AWARDED the HIGHEST HONOUR, COMMENDATION and RECOGNITION for a Private Security Officer in Kenya for his courage, selfless patriotism and unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property,”
“We commend Mr. Chepkwony for his outstanding service and express our gratitude for his unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.” The statement read.

He also works as a security guard at Wells Fargo Security Company at the Nation Centre building in Nairobi.
His journey has not been easy. He has been through countless ups and downs to be where he is today.
The firstborn family of 4 children, he was born in Kanyongonyo village in Kitui county.
He is currently pursuing a BSC in Microprocessor Technology and Instrumentation.
