Kenya Airways (KQ) recently unveiled its new Asante Lounge inside the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The premium lounge is located at JKIA’s Terminal 1C, and caters to customers of Kenya Airways as well as other airlines.

Speaking during the launch, Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO Allan Kilavuka expressed excitement, noting that it is the airline’s fourth lounge.

“This is our fourth lounge here at JKIA, our hub. We’re very excited because of this lounge,” he said.

Kilavuka mentioned that the new lounge was set up in a bid to improve customer service and offer them alternatives to the existing facilities.

“For many reasons, we are giving more access to our customers, more alternatives to our customers to make sure that our customers have a fantastic experience,” he added.

Ruth Mueni, a communication expert who is also a customer of Kenya Airways, lauded the airline for the strides they are making to improve customer service.

She described Asante Lounge as a good ‘space to relax’, and shared an experience where she was taken good care of by the Kenya Airways crew when she was pregnant.

“The impression is good, it gives the opportunity for networking purposes, and getting to know who are these people bridging the gap between high level people say the politicians and CEOs of companies,” she shared.

George Kamal, Kenya Airways Chief Operating Officer (COO) mentioned that the lounge is close to T1 C and T1 B terminals making it less inconvenient for customers.

“The [lounge’s] presence in the newly renovated terminal is good for our customers as they gate to see the area and duty free goods,” he said.
