The Paris 2024 Olympics is facing a storm after the opening ceremony led to anger from Christians around the world.
During the ceremony, Drag queens parodied Leonardo da Vinci’s rendition of the Last Supper.
The 18 performers re-created the scene which is the depiction of Jesus Christ’s final meal with his disciples before crucifixion.
In the scene, half-naked performers, one in the middle with a halo atop her head, behind a long table.
There was also a man who was painted blue and with only vines covering his genitals.
The man sat in the middle of the table and was surrounded by flowers.
Netizens turned to social to condemn it, with many calling for a boycott of the Olympics.
“I will NOT watch the Olympic Games whilst ever this vile parody of Jesus’s Last Supper is deemed acceptable by the organisers. This is a flagrant attack on the whole of Christianity! Utterly disgusting,” an X user said.
Meanwhile, the spotlight is on the cardboard beds in the Olympic Village, often dubbed “anti-sex beds.”
Initially introduced in Tokyo 2021, these beds are designed for sustainability, made from recyclable materials, and can support up to 200 kilogrammes.
The “anti-sex beds”, designed by the Japanese company Airweave, are made from recyclable cardboard and are intended for sustainability rather than inhibiting intimacy.
Each bed consists of three modular components, allowing athletes to adjust firmness and size.
