Comedian and media mogul Eddie Butita has reportedly gifted himself a Range Rover Sport vehicle estimated to cost Kshs 15 million.
The comedian who has recently been facing criticism from Kenyans over his involvement with the government shared the photos of the luxury SUV on his Instagram account with a mysterious message, implying that he was just borrowing the vehicle from a friend.
“Waaah Yani hii Gari ni mzuri ! Range Rover Sports is good. I borrowed this car from a friend for the past few weeks and it has taught me a great lesson, I need to work extra hard and buy this car soon. I’m manifesting niombeeni ninunue hii gari, mi nataka range rover niwekeni kwa maombi soon yani soon acha niendelee kuweka bidii. Nataka tu kama hii exactly. AMEN,” he captioned the photos.
Netizens who caught on to Butita’s antics were quick to decipher the message that he had indeed bought the car, teasing him for hiding behind the backlash he received during the height of the anti-government protests and urging him to come clean and assume ownership.
His friend and fellow comedian Njugush was among those who called his bluff, teasing him for refusing to acknowledge that he was the owner.
“Rafiki yupi huyo sjawahi ona na kitu kama hii?” Njugush commented.
“Usiogope kusema umenunua😂 pesa yako ni legit,” CEO Bigman Bazuu quipped.
“Tunajua umenunua lakini unaogopa critics na salamu za GenZs, it’s your hard work earned money usiogope,” a user named Donna The Sassy commented.
“Kufanyia kazi serikali sahii ni ngumu sana. Ata huezi prosper na amani,” Naisa Kamanga noted.
The media CEO had previously shared a clip of him driving the SUV hinting that he had upgraded his ride much to the excitement of his followers who congratulated him on his luxurious upgrade.
Butita joins his friend Abel Mutua who also shares a taste in luxury cars as in 2023 he purchased a Land Rover Discovery after ditching his Mercedes Benz E250.
