Kenya is leading a peace keeping mission in the violence-striken country, that was approved by the UN Security Council. With a contingent of 1000 police officers, Kenya is leading the mission as nations such as the Bahamas, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda expected to join in combating the gangs which have crippled the country.

As of now, 600 police officers have been deployed to the country, arriving in two batches in June and July and the third one expected to depart soon.

The officers are stationed in the Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, where they have managed to recapture the Auorite Portuaire Nationale (APN) port and the University Hospital. Prime Minister Garry Conille has assured Haitians that the state will regain power and restore peace in the country.
