Samuel Kariuki is the founder of North World Logistics Solutions, a shipping company based in Canada.

In an interview with Chams Media, he explained that their business involves buying salvage cars and shipping parts of the cars to Africa, including Kenya.

Kariuki explained that he works with an insurance agent which sells salvage cars to the highest bidder among yard owners who bid on a specific vehicle.

“If a car gets into an accident, I would just go on the internet and bid then the highest bidder wins the car. I would value the damage and see what’s the nice part I can get from that car. If it’s the engine, I would bid according to how much I think the car is worth,” he added.

Kariuki said he ventured into the business after a friend who was already in the shipping business advised him to consider getting into it.

“While starting off, most Kenyans were scared of shipping stuff through me but after the first trial, although I suffered a loss of about Ksh 1 million, the business picked from there,” he said.

Kariuki runs a warehouse in Mlolongo, along Mombasa road where customers are contacted from once the goods arrive from Canada through the Port of Mombasa.

He mentioned that it takes a maximum of 45 days to ship the goods.

Additionally, Kariuki works with Kenyans in British Colombia to ship goods including clothes and household appliances to Kenya.

“I have created a WhatsApp Group which I use to communicate with my clients. Instead of dealing with an individual, I communicate with them through the WhatsApp Group. If I’m planning to load, I’ll communicate and share dates that we are loading a container,” he said.

Other than running North World Logistics Solutions, Kariuki also works as a Resource Worker at a shelter within his locality.
