Yutong Bus, a name synonymous with innovation and excellence in the commercial vehicle industry, has etched its mark on the global transportation landscape.

Established in 1963 in Zhengzhou, China, Yutong Bus has evolved from a modest local manufacturer to a multinational powerhouse, boasting a presence in over 150 countries worldwide.

The company’s humble beginnings can be traced back to its founding as the Zhengzhou Bus Factory, a state-owned enterprise tasked with producing buses for the local community.

However, Yutong’s journey to the pinnacle of the industry was not without its challenges.

The Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Company was founded in 1993 with a sales volume of 708 units.

In the early years, the company faced fierce competition from both domestic and international players, as the market for commercial vehicles in China began to take shape.

Undeterred, Yutong’s leadership recognized the importance of innovation and investment in research and development.

In 1997, Yutong Bus became the first bus company in China to be listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The Yutong Industrial Park was constructed at a total cost of 400 million Chinese yen and was put into operation in 1998. In 2002, the company exceeded an annual sales volume of 10,000 units for the first time.

In 2005, the company launched the overseas market strategy, becoming the first Chines bus maker to export CKD parts. The following year, Yutong was awarded the certificate of exemption from export inspection.

Yutong Bus launched the TSM intelligent system in 2011.

The rapid development of urbanization in China and growing environmental concerns presented Yutong with a unique opportunity to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions.

The company responded by pouring resources into the development of new energy vehicles, including electric and hybrid models, positioning itself as a pioneer in the field.

In 2012, the Yutong New Energy Bus plant was put into operation. The sales volume for coaches and buses reached 56,068 in 2013, with 3,897 of them being new energy buses.

The sales volume for coaches and buses exceeded 60,000 in 2014.

In 2015, Yutong successfully completed the world’s first trial of an autonomous bus.
