NYS Announces 2025 Nationwide Recruitment Drive, Dates and Requirements Revealed

The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) on Tuesday, January 28 officially announced the opening of the annual nationwide recruitment drive for volunteer servicemen and women.

In the notice on MyGov, the government agency stated that the recruitment is open to all Kenyans aged between 18 to 24 years who fulfill the listed requirements.

The exercise will begin on Monday, February 10 and will run until Saturday, February 15.

The recruitment will be conducted accross various subcounties with a total of 358 designated venues.

The first day will feature recruitment in 76 centers, followed by 73 centers on the second and third days, 76 centers on the fourth day, 81 on the fifth day, and 3 centers on the final day.

Requirements

Interested candidates must be be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.

The candidates must be between 18 to 24 years and have a mean Grade of D plain and above in KCSE.

Candidates are required to produce an Original National identity Card, original academic Certificates and avail one set of photocopies of the same at the recruitment center.

The candidates must avail a certificate of good conduct and be ready to undergo a thorough medical checkup during and after the recruitment exercise.

They must also be prepared to undergo demanding physical training and provide voluntary service to the Nation in any part of Kenya.

NYS stated that the exercise is open to all, encouraging persons with disabilities to participate, as long as they have the ability to endure the strenous physical training.

“Persons with disability are also encouraged to avail themselves for the recruitment exercise in their respective sub counties and centers provided they are able to withstand the rigorous physical training,” said NYS.

Special preference will be given to orphans who meet the above requirements as long as they provide proof such as parents ‘death Certificates or burial permits.

Demonstrated sports skills and talents will be highly prefered.

The agency also urged Kenyans to remain alert on fraudsters who take advantage of such exercises to solicit funds in exchange of securing admission.

“NYS does not condone corruption in any form Canvassing and giving monetary or other considerations for the purpose of admission is an offence which can lead to automatic disqualification and/or prosecution. Instances of this nature should be reported promptly to the Director General on telephone number 020-2400129,” read the statement in part.

Upon successful recruitment, NYS will issue individual calling lectters to selected candidate. They will then report for the NYS paramilitary Course at NYS College, Gigil and NYS TTI Naivasha on dates and times indicated in their respective letters.
