Khalif Kairo, born Joseph Kairo Wambui in November 1996, spent his formative years in Amboseli, a neighborhood within Kawangware, Nairobi County.

His mother played a pivotal role in his upbringing, operating a modest kiosk where she sold essential goods to the local community.

This entrepreneurial environment provided young Kairo with early exposure to business operations and community engagement.

Kairo’s educational journey began at Huduma Primary Pre-Unit in Kawangware, where he studied up to Class 6.

He then transitioned to World Hope Academy, also in Kawangware, to complete his primary education.

For his secondary education, Kairo attended Dagoretti High School from 2011 to 2012 before moving to Kahuho Uhuru High School in 2012.

Beyond raising her son, Kairo’s mother also ran a small kiosk, where she worked tirelessly to provide for her family.

In a social media post dated October 22, 2023, Kairo shared insights into his mother’s life, stating, “My mother is a 60-year-old woman, enjoying her sunset years in a beautiful country in North America after slaving for years in Kenya.”

After years of hard work and sacrifice, she eventually relocated to the United States, where she has settled ever since.

Recent events have highlighted the strength of the bond between Kairo and his mother.

On January 28, 2025, following a court session, Kairo was rearrested on allegations of fraud.

A video captured his mother accompanying him, expressing confusion and concern over the situation.

She pleaded with the officers, saying, “Si hii kesi tunashughulikia?” (Isn’t this the issue we are solving?), to which an officer responded, “This is for a different case, madam, your son knows that very well.”

Despite her efforts, Kairo was taken into custody, leaving his mother visibly distressed.

Throughout Kairo’s legal challenges, his mother has remained a steadfast presence, attending court sessions and offering unwavering support.
