Despite past hardships, Grant maintains a close relationship with his father today. Grant’s mother, Renee, is the one who signed him up for The Bachelorette.

Ellis also has a sister named Taylor, who works as a model.

During the first episode of “The Bachelor”, Ellis’s family, including his mother, father, sister, and grandmother Corine, were present.

Career

After graduating from Albertus Magnus College in 2017 with a degree in criminal justice, Ellis played professional basketball in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto in the Dominican Republic.

After retiring from basketball due to an injury, he moved to Houston, Texas, and began a career as a day trader.

Grant showed a passion for basketball from a young age.

His performance at Hudson Catholic High School clearly demonstrated his talent and potential, leading to his recruitment by Iona College on a Division I scholarship.

While he started at Iona, his transfer to Albertus Magnus College suggests he was looking for a better fit.

At Albertus Magnus, he excelled, earning recognition as Second Team All-GNAC. Playing professionally in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto in the Dominican Republic was a significant step.

It meant he was pursuing his dream of being a professional athlete.

However, his time there was relatively short, and his statistics weren’t as high as they were in college, which suggests he may have faced challenges adapting to the professional level or perhaps encountered some obstacles like injury or limited playing time.
