Sam Hunt is an American singer and songwriter celebrated for his innovative fusion of R&B and pop elements within the country music genre.
Before embarking on his own successful solo career, Hunt made a name for himself as a songwriter, penning hits for renowned artists such as Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Billy Currington and Reba McEntire.
Hunt’s debut album, Montevallo, released in 2014, was a groundbreaking success, setting chart records with five singles, including Leave the Night On, Take Your Time and House Party.
He has garnered widespread acclaim throughout his career, earning accolades such as an American Music Award and a CMT Music Award.

Sam was born in Cedartown, Georgia, to Allen and Joan Hunt, and is the eldest of three sons, with two younger brothers, Van and Ben Hunt.
He is now a father of two and is expecting a third child with his wife, Hannah Lee Fowler.
They welcomed their daughter, Lucy Louise, in May 2022, and their son, Lowry Lee, in October 2023.
Hunt has noted that fatherhood has given him a new sense of purpose and has helped him grow up, shifting his perspective on life.
Career
Hunt’s career breakthrough came when he moved to Nashville to pursue songwriting, co-writing Kenny Chesney’s hit song Come Over.
In January 2014, Hunt signed a recording contract with MCA Nashville. His debut EP, X2C, was released on August 12, 2014, as a preview to his debut album.
Hunt’s debut album Montevallo was released on October 27, 2014.
That same day, he released Between the Pines: Acoustic Mixtape, featuring acoustic versions of his hits and songs he wrote for other artists.
Montevallo debuted at number one on the Top Country Albums chart and number three on the US Billboard 200, selling 70,000 units in its first week.
The album included his own version of Cop Car.
Leave the Night On reached number one on the Country Airplay chart in October 2014.
The music video for Leave the Night On earned Hunt the CMT Breakthrough Video of the Year award.
The album’s second single, Take Your Time, peaked at number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and spent 11 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
With Montevallo and Take Your Time, Hunt became the first country artist since Clint Black to have his debut studio album and single peak atop the year-end charts in the same year. In 2015, Hunt went on tour with Lady Antebellum.
Hunt has received an American Music Award and a CMT Music Award, along with nominations for Billboard Music Awards and Grammy Awards.
