Deputy President William Ruto is a man who makes news thanks to his status in the country. Having studied in one of the top institutions in the country and abroad, she currently holds a high profile job in Poland.
Family
June is the daughter of William Ruto and Rachael Chebet Ruto. She comes from a family of nine children with the eldest being Nick Ruto, a lawyer by profession.
Education
She studied international relations at the University of Queensland, Australia and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in diplomacy from the United States International University (USIU).
Career
She works in the foreign ministry as a charge D’ affairs. A charge D’Affaires (CDA) is a diplomat who heads an embassy in the absence of the ambassador. Such a role is usually created when two countries do not have full diplomatic relations.
In such cases, the CDA is usually appointed as head of the “interests section,” which maintains diplomatic relations at a level below that of a formal embassy.
The fact that Kenya does not have a fully fledged embassy in the Eastern European country confirms her role as a senior representative of Kenya.
June joined the diplomatic service in 2014 and had previously been serving as second counsel in the Kenyan embassy of Rome, Italy.
Marriage
She is married to Nigerian fiancé, Dr. Alexander Ezenagu. The Nigerians flew into the country for the dowry payment and engagement ceremony. The ceremony was held on Saturday at the deputy president’s Karen home. The two tied the know in a lavish wedding attended by the who is who in the Kenyan political circles.
The simple yet beautiful ceremony was marked with colorful speeches, lovely Kalenjin wedding songs and Nigerian themed attires on both the bride’s and groom’s sides.
At the engagement ceremony, one of the negotiators, a politician named Osita Chidoka, observed the Kalenjin and Igbos had so much in common.
“June’s father kept the event small and simple and family-focused. His position as Deputy President was relegated as he played the role of father. Ruto and his wife were great hosts,” he noted.
Dr. Alexander Ezenagu
June’s husband is a man who has chewed books. He is an Assistant Professor in the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar.According to the academic personal website, he specializes in investment law advisory and practice; trade law, international tax law, commercial law advisory and practice, developmental governance, construction and infrastructure.
