Abai Lodges & Spa: The Classy 64 Room Lodge In Kirinyaga County Owned By Ex-PS Kibicho

The Abai Lodges & Spa is arguably one of the best hotel in Kirinyaga county. The establishment imbues class and has everything you will find in a world class hotel. From the swimming pool, gym, spa, sauna, spacious private rooms, bar and delicious cuisine-the facility truly lives to its hype. Abai Lodge is owned by ex-Interior principal secretary Dr. (Eng) Kibicho Karanja. This can be evidenced by photos shared on the lodge official social media pages. 

The lodge is located 7km from Sagana town and three hours drive from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. 

Amenities 

The facility has a fancy hydraulic gate manned by well mannered guards. This is followed by a beautiful water fountain right outside the tastefully decorated reception area that has a golden three tier chandelier hanging from the ceiling and soft pink coloured walls.

The lodge’s restaurant offers sumptuous meals while their bar serves a variety of drinks all through.

The conference hall can accommodate up to 300 guests depending on the setting. It has fast internet connection, flip charts, white boards, and large display screens for those intending to hold training sessions at the facility. 

The lodge also comes with large, green extensive VIP gardens which have garden seats with beige parasols. 

Accommodation

“Designed with an elegant touch and superior modern finishes, our rooms are the perfect definition of class, comfort and style,” reads a statement on their website. All their rooms come with Smart TVs and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The lodge has a total of 64 rooms categorized into three: 

  • Executive suites 

The suites come fashioned with sofa sets, four-seater dining table, 45 inch Smart TV, a Masters en-suite, visitors’ washing room and a kitchenette. They cost Sh15,000 a night. 

  • Deluxe rooms 

The deluxe rooms come with their own gate and a private garden making them ideal for people who love privacy. They are spacious with modern finish, beautiful large airy windows and a nice bathroom. They cost Sh7,000 a night. 

  • Standard rooms 

They are much smaller in size but still offer visitors that elegant feel. They are secluded with cubicle style bamboo fenced compound. A night in the room goes for Sh4,000.

Events 

The lodge has hosted a number of events, some attended by popular celebrities, such as comedian Henry Desagu. The Permanent Secretary has also had meetings/ events with some Mt. Kenya leaders including ex-Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya. 

Abai Lodges & Spa officially launched Mugithi night on 12th February this year ahead of Valentine’s day. The joyous event was attended by popular musicians including samidoh and the duke of country music in Kenya Sir Elvis.
