A senior Administration Police officer has emotionally said goodbye to the force after 40 years of service.

Gitahi Kanyeki knelt at Salvation Army Nakuru Citadel, as he thanked God for giving him 40 years to serve the country.

Kanyeki revealed this was the same church where he had come for blessings when he was a young police recruit proceeding for training.

“At Salvation Army Nakuru Citadel on 30/6/2024 my last day to be in my Police uniform. This is the only way to say thank you to the almighty God after seeing me through the 40 years in service. It is the same church that on 8/7/1984, I knelt down and was prayed for. The next day I proceeded to APTC Embakasi. After my interview, I was instructed to go and have a haircut. After the haircut, I joined the recruit training. This was my retirement celebration- “THANKING GOD” for the far he had brought me.” Kanyeki said.

Kanyeki earlier in an emotional post said he would miss his police uniform.

“On 30/6/2024 my last day to be in this uniform, after a THANKSGIVING service at Nakuru Salvation Army Citadel Church. I will miss this wonderful uniform that I have worn for the last 40 years. Thank you, God for this far. Am humbled.” He said.

Meanwhile, Captain Theresa M. Claiborne has retired after 43 years of flying.

The pioneering aviator started as a second lieutenant and the first Black female pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and later as a captain at United Airlines.

Theresa was employed by United Airlines in January 1990 after seven years of active service with the Air Force and 13 years in the Air Force Reserves.

Her final landing for United on Thursday, May 23 at Newark, New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport marked her retirement after 34 years with the airline.
