The marriage between Alexander Ezenagu and deputy president William Ruto’s daughter June Ruto is a reminder that love knows no borders, cultures, background and whatever else you can imagine. The two got engaged in early May in an event only affair that was held at the deputy president’s home in Karen. Dr. Ezenagu is what every parent would wish for a son-in law having excelled in academics and his career. He has an impressive track record and has schooled in some of the best learning institutions in the world.
According to his personal website, he has specialized in investment law advisory and practice, trade law, international tax law, commercial law advisory and practice, developmental governance, construction and infrastructure development law, illicit financial flaws, tax avoidance, tax evasion among others.
Education
He has a PHD in International tax law from McGill University in Canada. Dr. Ezenagu obtained a Master’s degree in commercial law from University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
He did his Bachelor of Law degree in Ibadan Nigeria where he graduated with an LLB from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
Parents
Alexander Paul Ezenagu is the son of Eugene Ezenagu and Franca Ezenagu. Both his parents passed away thus their conspicuous absence from the ceremony.
Career
The lawyer was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He is an assistant professor in the college of law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar.
Dr. Ezenagu has built a reputation of supporting countries in developing effective fiscal reforms. He is currently designing a course on developmental governance, which focuses on influences on the developmental models adopted by developing countries.
A very notable moment in his career was that he consulted for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CODA)- an African Union Commission body, TaxCoop, Canada and the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI).
Apart from practicing law, he has also written a number of publications in academic journals. The publications have been so successful and have been featured in a number of global media outlets including being quoted in the Financial Times, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalist’s Paradise papers among others.
Marriage
The experienced lawyer married the love of his life June Chepchirchir Ruto in a flamboyant invite only ceremony held at Hon. William Ruto’s house in Karen. The stylish ceremony was graced by friends, families and political allies.
