Kenyan fencer Alexandra Ndolo is upbeat after emotionally exiting the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ndolo in a message to Kenyans, said she is proud to have represented the country in Fencing and putting it on the map.

Kenyan-German Fencer thanked fans for their goodwill messages and said meant a lot to her.

“For the longest time, I thought I had to win an Olympic medal for my words to be able to inspire and reach people, to give them hope. I thought if I didn’t reach the highest mountain tops (continental, world championship and Olympic medals) I could not contribute, I could not leave my footprints in the sand,”

“While my personal goals remain the same I know today that this sentiment was wrong. It turns out that I have reached countless people. The messages that you have all sent to me in all shapes and forms were beyond my wildest imagination. I can not express what this means to me,”

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am proud and honoured to have put Kenya on the fencing map and to have represented African sports on the biggest stage.” Ndolo said.

Ndolo lost narrowly by one point, thus exiting the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after losing 12-13 to Olena Kryvytska of Ukraine in the round of 32.

The fencer had been given a bye in the round of 64.

Fencing is a combat sport that involves the use of a sword—épée, foil, or sabre—for attack and defence.
