The company was set up by Tabitha Karanja and her husband Joseph Karanja at their Naivasha farm.

It started operations with only 5 employees and produced fortified wines for low-income earners.

The multi-billion Keroche Breweries began with a capital of KSh 500,000. The couple pooled money from their hardware business to set up the brewery.

While the company would grow to be a household name, it has often been at the receiving end of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
