K24 reporter Catherine Wanjeri has been shot in the leg and badly injured.

Wanjeri was covering the anti-government protests in Nakuru when she was allegedly shot by the police.

The Media Max journalist was at Nakuru CBD on duty with other journalists who also sustained injuries.

She was shot while standing outside a bank’s premises, with the bullet hitting her on the thigh.

In a video of the incident, two journalists can be spotted lying on the ground crying for assistance.

Wanjeri had blood coming from her upper leg.

Responders quickly did first aid on the journalists before rushing them to the hospital for treatment.

According to sources, Wanjeri was taken to Valley Hospital located in Nakuru town.

Early in July, Rex Kanyike Masai who was allegedly shot dead by a police officer was buried.

The young protestor was laid to rest at Kamuthanga village in Machakos County on Friday, July 5.

His emotional father, Chris Odawa described him as a humble young man and was devastated to lose his firstborn child.

“It is so painful to lose my firstborn child for no reason. On that fateful day, it was just a phone call away and Rex was no more,” he said.

Rex’s mother, Gillian Odawa, angrily blamed the police for her son’s death and cursed the one who shot him.

“To the policeman who fired a bullet in my son’s body, I think you are happy now, but remember God CAN be bribed. You will pay with your own blood. May your FOURTH-GENERATION never know peace,” she said
