China will donate over 6,000 cabins used as fan villages in Qatar in the ongoing FIFA World Cup to the homeless in Kenya.
In an update on Twitter, China’s assistant foreign minister Hua Chunying said the cabins were put up by the Chinese government to accommodate the larger number of football fans.
“The 6,000-cabin fan village at the FIFA World Cup were made by Chinese companies and will be donated to the homeless in Kenya after the games,” Hua wrote on Twitter.

The cabins measure 16 square meters and can accommodate up to two people with two single beds or one double bed per cabin.
Each cabin has two beds, one lamp, some electric plugs, a fan and enough space to put some bags.
The cabins provide standard amenities including a mini-fridge, housekeeping services, a tea and coffee maker, two bottles of water per day, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
They also have bathroom facilities.
Prices range from Ksh 25,336 per person every night.
Elsewhere, FIFA has earned over Ksh 918 billion in revenue through four years of commercial deals tied to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

According to the governing body of football says, the earnings are Ksh 122.4 billion more than what the organisation pulled in from the 2018 event in Russia.
Qatar Energy joined as a top-tier sponsor, and new third-tier sponsors include Qatari bank QNB and telecommunications firm Ooredoo.
FIFA also added second-tier sponsor deals this year from financial platform crypto.com and blockchain provider Algorand, its first new American sponsor in more than a decade.
FIFA pays for host countries’ organising committees, prize money, travel and accommodation for teams and support staff.
It also pays for a legacy fund to help develop the sport in the host country after the World Cup circus has left town.
