Comedian Akuku Danger Biography, Age, Education, Career And Hospitalisation

Akuku Danger is a Kenyan comedian who was born to the ‘legendary’ Acentus Akuku who married more than one hundred wives. The comedian whose real name is Mannerson Oduor Ochieng was recently hospitalized after one of his lungs collapsed. This article looks into the comedian’s profile as told by WoK.

Age and Early Background

The comedian was born on 19 June in the 1980s and as of 2021 is in his thirties. 

Education

Mannerson Oduor is an alumnus of Multimedia University where he attained his first degree in Mass Media and Communication. He would also pursue a second degree in Public Relations from the same institution.

Stand-up Comedy Career

Many people know the comedian from his signature dreadlocks and his high sense of fashion always clad in well-tailored suits. He joined Daniel Ndambuki’s Churchill Show in December 2018 where he quickly gained fans for his performances. His fan base grew and was soon building his own brand fuelled by the prominence of his stage name, ‘Akuku Danger’. This is evidenced in his social media pages where he has amassed thousands of followers. His Instagram page has 90.7K followers and his Facebook page has 140K followers.

Other Businesses

As the ‘Akuku Danger’ brand, the comedian has been able to set up businesses beside comedy. He is also an MC who brings his best to weddings, ruracios, corporate parties, birthdays, and baby showers. He often shares these videos and clips on his pages that are very active. Moreover, he works with various brands for advertisements on his pages including betting firms that have become very popular among Kenyans. 

Hospitalization following Lung Failure

The comedian’s colleague and friend Boaz Hosea, went online to inform the nation of Akuku Danger’s hospitalization. In a social media post he said, “Akuku Danger was admitted at Nairobi Women’s Hospital-Rongai last week and discharged, and put on medication and now he has been readmitted. One of his lungs has already collapsed, and is currently in the I.C.U.” 

His family had also informed the public of this seeking financial support for his medical aid saying, “We are seeking financial support for our brother who is admitted at Nairobi West hospital ICU due to lung failure. He is currently undergoing dialysis. With the several medical procedures involved we are at a burden of an increasing hospital bill. Any financial support will be highly appreciated.”

His plight was also shared by other colleagues and friends including Sandra Ndacha and Professor Hamo who added that the comedian had been born with Sickle Cell Anemia. Akuku Danger was then transferred to Nairobi West Hospital for further medication. 

Record-Breaking Fundraiser

On 31st December 2021, Churchill hosted a New Year’s Eve show at the Garden City Mall grounds which was attended by thousands of Kenyans in readiness to usher in the new year. Churchill took some time off amid the show and asked the audience to stand with the comedian. In a record-breaking fundraiser, they were able to raise Ksh 400,000 in three minutes. This was applauded by several Kenyans. Sandra Ndacha commented, “But this man @mwalimchurchill Churchill Show managed to raise 400k yesterday for @itsakukudanger in a span of 3 mins. What more can I say… Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Maina Kageni added, “He’s got a heart of gold.”
