A section of Kenyan Influencers and content creators have announced they are cutting ties with Safaricom.

The Influencers accuse the company of turning its back on Kenyans.

Among those who made their stand to part ways with the giant telco are: former Kenyan rugby star Dennis Ombachi, Shoba Gatimu, Magunga, Ben Cyco and Muchiri Mike.

“I’m pulling all my music from Skiza platform by Safaricom. It’s time to part ways with sympathizers,” Ben Cyco said.

“Twitter is finally back Larry Madowo the North Will Remember. As for the green army on Waiyaki Way, I won’t be working with you as you’re values and mine are not aligned,” Ombachi posted.

Ombachi further said his decisions are all based on his values, not money.

“I have turned down heavy bags from Betting & Alcoholic brands because of what I believe in and life experience,”

“Money can buy all the nice things but of what use if we lose all the things money can’t buy,” he added.

Popular chef Shoba Gatimu also shared his stand on the telco.

“I have worked with Safaricom as an Influencer for many years. That ends today. I refuse to work with a company that throws us to the wolves, helping the govt track down and massacre Kenyans demonstrating for their rights. I will not work with betrayers.” Gatimu said.

Netizens accused Safaricom of shutting down the internet during protests against the Finance Bill.

The company was also accused of sharing real-time locations and communication of protesters with the government.

Meanwhile, Safaricom has come out to clear itself after being accused of leaking data about protesters to the Kenyan government.

The telco in its defence said it cannot share data unless there is a court order.

“We don’t share customer data unless where it’s explicitly against a court order. On this issue, there has been no request or court order served.” Safaricom said.
