Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has cleared the air after some of their party members got nominated to Cabinet.

Sifuna said ODM has not joined the government as the party structure has yet to approve such a move.

The Senator who was speaking at Citizen TV on the nomination list was an open lie.

“The party has not joined the government, that is an open lie,”

“ODM is a movement of people, the over five million Kenyans who are registered members and there is a way in which organizations such as our party make a decision,” he said.

The nomination of four ODM senior members to Cabinet has triggered anger not just among party leaders but also with a section of Kenyans who see the move as a betrayal.

Sifuna said party members have no understanding of Ruto’s policies and including them in his government will be awkward.

“I had the President say that they are going to implement the bottom-up transformative agenda, I can assure you Mbadi for instance has no idea what that means because he is a member of ODM,” Sifuna said.

President William Ruto on Wednesday, July 24 nominated more Cabinet Secretaries.

The new names in his list are Raila Odinga’s Azimio members.

Among them are Hassan Joho and John Mbadi.

Also nominated are former Kakamega governor and staunch Raila ally Wycliffe Oparanya and Opiyo Wandayi.
